BWCoach features

This page is used for the live coaching settings. The training files are all listed at the bottom. Those training files are text files with the .trn extension. They must all be located in the /training sub-folder of where BWCoach is located. If you add or modify training files while BWCoach is opened, click the Refresh button to reload everything. Click here for an explanation of the training file format.

When you selected a training file, the description is displayed at the top (name, author, date, quick description). A training file is a text file containing multiple build orders. Each build order is a list of actions to do at specific times, like "at 01:00, build spawning pool". During the game, BWCoach will alert you with a text message and an audio message every time there is such action to do. Click here for a training file example.

Training file order : the training files are ordered because during game you might want to cycle through them easily without having to Alt+TAB back to BWCoach. You can do so using the F6 key. The training files will cycle in as they are ordered in the list. User the button arrows below to change the order. Use On/off to temporarily disable or re-enable a training file so it appears or not in the cycle.

BOs... : will display a window will all the build orders defined in the selected training file. Each build order will be displayed as a chart showing all actions.

Edit... : will open notepad on the selected training file. If you modify a training file dont forget to refresh the list afterwards by clicking the Refresh button.

Simulate... : will open the simulation window to simulate a game and therefore verify that your training file is ok.

Wait for player to press F9 when goal is complete : to allow you to measure your performance against the ideal build order, BWCoach can record the time when you actually realize an action that's in the BO. But to know that time, BWCoach needs you to press F9 when it happens. So for example, if the BO contains a "build spawning pool" at 01:00, the message will pop up on screen and in the middle of the control panel you should read something like "build spawning pool (F9)" which will remain until you press F9 to indicate that you actually built the pool. If another action pops up before you have time to complete the pool, the new action will get queued after the current one. F9 will pop the oldest action from the queue.

You can disable that feature (and therefore release you from having to press F9 at any time) by unchecking that option.

Announce goals in advance : specifies a little margin to announce goals so you have more time to prepare for executing them. For example, if the action is "01:00 build pool" and the advance is 5 seconds, then the "build pool" message will pop up at 00:55.

Stragegy : if the training file has a strategy guide with it you can watch it in built in Web viewer by clicking the Strategy button. Once there you can print the strategy guide by right clicking on it. Stragegy guide is defined in the training file itself, in the [STRATEGY] section.
