04/15/09 BWChart 1.04A : Map Coverage

Hi, I finally got back my FTP access for bwchart.com, thanks to SonuvBob. It's been a long time since my last update (something like 3 years). I thought BWChart had been erased from hard drives long time ago, but it seems not. So I decided to do a few updates over the week-end.

In this new version, I added support for patch 1.16 and the new Chat action. I fixed a few bugs, added smooth curves, and a new chart called "Map Coverage". It tells you two things:

1-how much percentage of the map you have buildings on (it doesnt care about buildings that were destroyed, of course)
2-how much percentage of the map you are moving units on (moving=move or attack command)

Those curves work on a 8x8 grid placed over the map, whatever the size of the map. So it's a rough percentage, but it's good enough.

The first curve is a growing curve, like resources, because we dont know if buildings were destroyed.
The second curve is more like APM, because we consider unit movements only. To see that curve you need to check the "Units" check box. Also you can set the curve style (flat, dynamic, etc).

Cheers and thanks for all the nice comments on TL

On the snapshot below, we see "Map Coverage" curves and the animated map at a moment where XiaOzl seems to be moving his armies all over the place, while GoOdy is adding buildings in many places too. You can see all the blue dots on the map where XiaOzl is moving units, which corresponds to the peak in his red curve:

It's quite fascinating to see that on some pro replays, guys are sometimes moving units on almost 50% of the map. Considering a lot of the map is not even usable to place units (cliffs, water, rocks, etc), 50% is impressive.
