Replay With Audio FAQ

Korean version of this page here (thx to Waxangel).

Q:Can I watch a replay with audio without starting BWPlayer?

Yes you can. BW will treat it as any other replay. You will just not hear the audio.

Q:If I change the replay speed to x2, x4, etc, I don't hear the audio anymore ?

That's ok. The audio is recorded at "Fastest" speed and therefore only played back at "Fastest". Now, if you change the speed for a while, when you go back to "Fastest", the audio will sync with the replay and you will hear it again.

Q:What happens if I Alt+TAB to MSN Messenger while watching an audio replay?

In Single Player mode, if either you Alt+TAB to MSN Messenger or it does it automatically when a new message comes in, both the replay and the audio will pause. Both will resume when you switch back to BW. If you are on BNet, then both the replay and the audio continue playing while you're away.

Q:I exited the audio replay but the audio is still playing, is that normal?

Yes. The audio will terminate only when the audio commentary is finished OR if you press the F8 key.

Q:Somehow I lost the synchronization between the replay and the audio. How can I get it back?

Set the replay speed back to Fastest and press F7. The audio commentary will sync with replay and start playing again in x1.

Q:When listening to an audio replay, the audio is all messed up with pops and glitches?

Make sure you have the latest DirectX drivers for your sound card. You can also try to turn off DirectX audio hardware acceleration.

Q:Which version of BW does it work with?

1.10 only until version 1.00N (included). 1.10+1.11 with version 1.00P and above. And there won't be a version of 1.09 or 1.08 sorry.

Q:When i try to open BWPlayer it says it cannot find dsound.dll?

Download and install latest version of DirectX.

Q:The replay doesn't seem to work correctly. The commentator is saying that there is this or that unit doing this or that, but in the replay none of that is happening. There are just a bunch of idle workers.

This is probably because the replay is from version 1.10 of BW and you play it with version 1.11. In this case, especially if there is a Zerg player in the game, the replay will do what you say (units not moving, etc). To view those old RWA you will need a 1.10 version of BW installed. For more recent RWA working with 1.11, check out www.manifesto7.com

Recording FAQ

Q:What speed shall I use when recording a replay or a live game ?

Always use Fastest, throughout the whole game.

Q:Can I pause a recording ?

Yes. Just pause the replay and the recording will pause as well.
